About Us

FIRST Community Project Logo

Former Sachem North students Yash Jani, Sofia Karayoff, and Stefanie Karayoff have initiated a donation program consisting of 70 Long Island teams helping over 50 teams in the 5-Boroughs with material donations.

At the NYC 2022 Regional competition, we noticed that many of the teams' robots were made of wood or unfinished. When we asked around, we found out that many of the NYC teams have very little funding and lacked vital parts. Because of the great difference in support, we decided to get a group together to see if we could help. We want to give students in lesser funded teams a more enriching experience in FRC, so for the past few months, we have been working on a way to help teams that don't have the supplies they require by donating them.

What We Do

We meet with many teams personally at yearly competitions and have create a list of parts that teams from the 5-Boroughs can pick and choose materials that they need. With the help from legislator Leslie Kennedy, Council member Julie Menin, representative Steve Sterns, and many of the staff at the NYC FIRST STEM Center, we were able to figure out a way on how to get these materials to our main contact point on Roosevelt Island and are now beginning testing of this program.

If you are interested in being involved in our testing phase, please contact us.
